A Proven Legal Professional
Jermaine Guillory brings over a decade of hands-on legal experience to his campaign for Division L Judge. He earned his Juris Doctor from LSU's Paul M. Hebert Law Center and has served the community through legal clinics, transparency initiatives, and criminal justice reform.

My Commitments to the Community
As your District Court Judge, I will bring fairness, experience, and compassion to every case. These are the principles and priorities that will guide my decisions on the bench.
Mental Health & Substance Abuse Treatment
Too many people in our criminal justice system are struggling with untreated mental illness and addiction. I will prioritize treatment-based alternatives to incarceration, expand access to mental health courts, and connect defendants with the resources they need to recover — not just punish.
Pretrial Fairness & Reform
No one should sit in jail simply because they cannot afford bail. I will apply evidence-based pretrial assessments to ensure release decisions are based on risk — not wealth — while keeping our community safe.
Diversion & Second Chances
Having helped develop diversion programs in East Baton Rouge Parish, I know firsthand that rehabilitation works. I will expand diversion pathways for non-violent individuals, giving people the opportunity to turn their lives around before a conviction defines them.
Accountability & Transparency
Justice must be visible to be trusted. I will maintain an open courtroom, issue clear and reasoned decisions, and hold myself to the same standard of accountability I expect from those who appear before me. I will also publish a public data dashboard tracking my courtroom work — case dispositions, sentencing outcomes, and docket performance — so the community can see exactly how I am serving them.
Efficient & Timely Justice
Delayed justice is denied justice. I will actively manage my docket to reduce backlogs, move cases forward efficiently, and ensure that victims, defendants, and families are not left waiting for resolution.
Community-Centered Sentencing
Sentencing should reflect the full picture — the offense, the individual, and the impact on our community. I will consider restorative justice approaches that repair harm, reduce recidivism, and strengthen the bonds of our neighborhoods.
